How to achieve your new year's resolutions, how to stop doomscrolling, a good truffle recipe and developing a good relationship with food
Good morning and Happy New Year! It feels weird to only wish happy new year now – it's already the 7th so I feel like I missed the window. But oh well, I hope you've had an amazing start of your year. :)
Over here, we stayed home and treated it as just another night. It was fantastic. No pressure to find the perfect plan, to have the most fun. We did what we love to do every night and I was very happy about it.
Here are some recommendations for the new year/some things on my mind.
How to actually (and finally) achieve your new year’s resolution
I'm a person who likes to do new year’s resolutions because it helps me live with intention.
BUT, what I've noticed is that resolutions become a burden for most people. I believe we have the tendency to overcommit, or commit to things we WANT, not the things we're willing to pay the price for. Huge difference.
On my last episode of 2025, I talked more about this and how I approach my resolutions. Listen here.
4 mindset shifts that will make starting easier
If this year you want to start something new: starting is less about feeling ready and more about making and owning a decision.
I firmly believe that while we do need to have some minimum requirements to start anything, we become ready as we go.
So if you feel afraid, ashamed, insecure, etc. to start something new, this episode covers 4 mindset shifts that helped me tremendously in starting my podcast and this newsletter last year.
How to stop doomscrolling
Everyone's new year’s resolution (every year)!!! Ha. I've learned that at least for me, the reason it's so hard (other than the fact that the dopamine levels are completely different when you're on social media vs. reading something useful), is that we
1. don't spend time creating a good curation, and
2. don't develop a good (and easy) process to access that content.
If you want to consume better content, desire alone isn’t enough. You need to work on the WHAT and the HOW first.
Here's a post I wrote about how I built my curation and a process that works for me.
Also, the new (is it new? I don't really know) “watch” feature on The New York Time's app is pretty good.
How to find your style
I hired a stylist 2 years ago and it was a game changer, but since then I've changed and while I do like the clothes I own, I felt like something was missing.
So I worked with AI (Claude) to figure out what it was and guide my next purchases. The results were extremely helpful.
If one of your goals this year is to feel more like yourself in the clothes that you wear, here is a video walking through the prompt I used and a good step by step for finding your style.
The best Oreo truffles
I made these oreo truffles for new years and they were absolutely amazing. I didn't have dried rose hips so I used flaky salt and Oreo crumbles on the top instead. Hands down the best truffles and so easy to make.
How to build a healthy relationship with food
The season 2 of my podcast is out and our first interview is with Manoella Campello, a dietitian who ditched diet culture to focus on balance, behavior, and food freedom.
This conversation gave me so many useful insights on how to be healthier without restriction. If you want to build a healthier relationship with food, I highly recommend you listen to this one.
That's all for today, meus amigos. Happy new year again and let's make this a great one.
